PLEXUS curates a concert featuring new works by five luminaries of the jazz world, whose backgrounds bring a unique flavour to the clarinet trio genre. These five composers, whilst drawing on a shared provenance, inhabit different facets of the jazz prism, and this concert presents glittering reflections of their very individual perspectives.
Since launching in 2014, PLEXUS has commissioned over 70 composers, and in their first year gave the world premieres of 22 new works. In 2015, PLEXUS continues to avidly support new music with three concerts at the Melbourne Recital Centre featuring the first performances of a total of fifteen works commissioned by PLEXUS, in its series entitled PLEXUS: Premieres.
These concerts are co-presented by PLEXUS and the Melbourne Recital Centre as part of Local Heroes, which in 2015 shares the stories of our World War I heroes. This concert pays tribute to Major Doctor Frederick Miller Johnson.
