PLEXUS presents a panoramic picture of the contemporary compositional landscape, spanning two hemispheres and traversing a variety of individual stylistic terrains. Join the ensemble as they set out on an epic expedition to rediscover the vibrancy and creativity of these celebrated composers, for this grand finale to a year of cutting edge musical exploration.
Since launching in 2014, PLEXUS has commissioned over 70 composers, and in their first year gave the world premieres of 22 new works. In 2015, PLEXUS continues to avidly support new music with three concerts at the Melbourne Recital Centre featuring the first performances of a total of fifteen works commissioned by PLEXUS, in its series entitled PLEXUS: Premieres.
These concerts are co-presented by PLEXUS and the Melbourne Recital Centre as part of Local Heroes, which in 2015 shares the stories of our World War I heroes. This concert pays tribute to Brigadier Walter Cass.
